With cleaning comes cloths. And cloths come with rules. It’s best to use disposable, single-use cloths when you’re cleaning, to prevent cross contamination and the spread of bacteria. Use the right cloth for the right job. If you’re using reusable cloths however, you need to keep them clean. To make sure bacteria doesn’t spread, you should wash and disinfect them immediately after using them. Then, spread them out so they can air dry properly. Ideally, it’s best to avoid using a cloth when you’re drying things – so let equipment air dry whenever you can, or use a paper towel if you have to. If you have no choice but to use a cloth, swap it for a new or clean one after you’ve finished drying the current load. And always make sure you only use one cloth for one surface – otherwise cross contamination will rear its ugly, unhygienic head.
